3) What is the difference between Times Private Treaties (TPT) and a Private Equity (PE) Firm?
A PE investor funds your growth needs with hard cash. The investment of a PE investor results in your company being richer in positive discretionary cash flow for its growth needs.

Times Private Treaties on the other hand strongly believes that every business needs to create intangible value by building its brand. The TPT business model enhances brand value over a period of time through investments in brand image creation by leveraging the advertising assets of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., (BCCL).

Unlike PE’s, Times Private Treaties does not seek a management seat on the board of its investee companies.

Times Private Treaties assists its investee companies with value added services like brand, media & communication strategy. The TPT Brand Communication team also helps clients create long term sustainable consumer engagement programs/ properties apart from creating effective cumulative 360° plans.
6) Is it essential for a Times Private Treaties investee company to appoint an advertising agency in addition?
Yes. The Times Private Treaties Brand Communication team plays a brand and media advisory role for its investee companies. However the client would require an agency for development of brand communication and all creative requirements apart from media releases. The TPT Brand Communication team can help in selection of an agency.
7) Is it essential for a Times Private Treaties investee company to appoint a media planning & buying agency in addition to TPT?
In addition to advertising with the Times Group media vehicles, it is important for a company to appoint a media agency for planning and buying of advertising space and properties within or beyond the BCCL network.
8) Is the deal with BCCL exclusive? Can a Times Private Treaties investee company advertise with other media companies?
An investee company is free to advertise in other media vehicles.
9) What is the average period of a Times Private Treaties deal?
We realize that brand building takes time and therefore view an investment from a 3-5 year perspective.
10) Does a Times Private Treaties deal affect the business prospects of advertising agencies?
Not at all. On the contrary, Times Private Treaties’ vision to help create brands & value across categories actually increases the business prospect for advertising agencies. In addition, we also provide clients the ability to advertise beyond category norms. The commission arrangement with advertising agencies remains unchanged.
11) Does Times Private Treaties have an in-house creative agency which can be part of the deal?
We do not have an in-house agency, but can provide inputs and guidance in selecting the right agency for our investee companies. We can also provide an educated point of view on communication (if so desired by the client).
12) How will a deal with Times Private Treaties help a company in the B2B space or one which does not have a brand?
All products/ services can benefit immensely from a well designed communication plan. This helps create a clear and distinct image of the company across all stakeholders. Be it a B2C or B2B company, the stakeholders are multiple. While in the case of a B2C brand, the consumer might be the most important stakeholder, a B2B company has multiple stakeholders including its employees & investors.
