 | Who We Are Times Private Treaties was conceptualized by Mr. Samir Jain, Vice Chairman - Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. , and came into being in 2005.
Times Private Treaties is a product of a progressive school of thought that believes and endorses the fact that every brand was once an idea and every idea can be a brand. And brands need to be built in the minds of people, which over a period of time create value.
We at Times Private Treaties endeavor to change the paradigm of brand building and bring about a whole new view to branding and brand management, with the help of our valuable media assets and aggregated consumer base.
We are present across India in 8 cities, which work individually or together with a deeper knowledge to offer more insight, more value and impact. Our Key Executives MR. S. SIVAKUMAR (Principal Secretary, BCCL & CEO DESIGNATE, Times Private Treaties)  Sivakumar is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India as well as Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. He has been with the BCCL group for over 19 Years and has handled diversified functions such as Finance, M & A, Marketing & Sales and now leads the Times Private Treaties Business. At the BCCL group he has played a pivotal role in all its new business initiates i.e. Internet, Radio, OOH Ventures etc and is on Board of some of these companies. Sivakumar also works very actively with the Vice Chairman of the group, Mr. Samir Jain in ideating, incubating and implementing ideas for BCCL’s media business. Sivakumar pursues his hobby of physical exercise and spirituality which he believes are essential for fitness of mind and body. He enjoys his occasional treks to the Himalayas. SUKANTO AICH (DIRECTOR)  Sukanto Aich is a Senior Executive with a proven track record of building successful businesses, delivering rapid revenue growth and creating operational structures to sustain growth and profitability. In his current capacity as Director for BCCL Private Treaties, Sukanto leads a group of professionals who works with their portfolio clients to enhance Enterprise Value. In his previous assignment Sukanto was the COO for the Enterprise Services business of Bharti Airtel for its South Hub operations managing revenues in excess of Rs. 1000 crores and working closely with leading corporate clients in the IT and ITES space. Sukanto has done his MBA from IIM Calcutta and has worked closely with the senior management teams in leading Indian organisations like Bharti Airtel and HCL Group. He likes reading and travelling. One of his recent memorable trips was to Egypt and he is currently working on a biography of Barrack Obama, the president of USA. MUNISH SABHARWAL (VICE PRESIDENT & HEAD - DEAL REVIEW, Delhi)  Munish has been with BCCL since 2004, when he joined as head M&A. He worked on the first Times Private Treaties deal and since then has been part of teams which structured & closed 75 deals in North, South and East India. Currently, he works for the Deal Review initiative at Times Private Treaties and is responsible for driving the investment process, deal reviews, managing the treaty portfolio, performance of treaty clients and exits. Prior to BCCL, he was National Group Head Investment Banking for the IDBI Group at Mumbai. He was picked by JM from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management after doing his MBA (Marketing) and later MBA (Finance). He started his career at JM Morgan Stanley (where he spent 13 years), heading Buybacks nationally and the i- banking Execution team for North before his stint in-charge of Corporate Advisory Services(North). He has been instrumental for couple of Capital market innovations including the instrument -Separately Transferable Redeemable Principal Parts (STRPP), and making the first book building document for private placement in India and the first 54EC document. All these have become benchmarks in India. He likes to read and travel. As a part of his continuous learning he loves to spend time with children and the differentially privileged. KARTHIK REDDY (VICE PRESIDENT, Mumbai)  Karthik is an investment banker and has had a diverse set of experience in the financial services sector. He had applied this experience within the media sector - as Head of Planning and Business Development at Deccan Chronicle and prior to that he was Head of Media Investment Banking practice at SSKI. He began his career at American Express Bank in Mumbai as a structuring specialist in currency and fixed income capital markets and then moved on to US where he worked at ABN AMRO Investment Banking and a virtual equity exchange – Instinet - a Reuters group company. Karthik has graduated from IIT, Roorkee and IIM, Bangalore. He is also an alumnus of the Wharton School having completed his MBA in 2001. INDIRA DIESH (ASSOC. VICE PRESIDENT, Delhi)  Indira has over two decades of experience with BCCL in Media, Advertising and Brand Management. Indira has done her postgraduate honors in Humanities from Lady Shriram College, Delhi University. She has headed the magazine section of The Times of India Group and nurtured the profitability and growth of the segment for 5 years. Indira has also initiated and headed the Times Classified section and created new revenue streams from the Education, Retail, Property, Recruitment and Business opportunities segments. She has spearheaded the Hindi language brands in Delhi i.e., the Navbharat Times and the Maharashtra Times in Mumbai. National Category awards were awarded for Market Intelligence, Selling Techniques, Developmental Vision and Brand Development. Currently, handling Business Development for 18 verticals in the Northern region, Times Private Treaties ANIL KUMAR (ASST. VICE PRESIDENT - Hyderabad)  Anil Kumar is a graduate from Delhi University (Hans Raj College) in BA (Hons) History 1979. He started his career as a Sales Representative with Hegde and Golay Ltd Bangalore, selling watches in Delhi and UP from 1979 to 1980. He has also worked with Jenson and Nicholson selling paints in Western UP after which he joined BCCL in 1983. Currently Anil heads the Hyderabad branch for Times Private Treaties- Business Development. Anil’s interest lies in reading, watching movies, playing football and cricket. Anil has also been the mentor for the BCCL Hyderbad Branch Cricket team. G RAMASWAMY (ASSOC. VICE PRESIDENT Mumbai)  G Ramaswamy is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of merchant banking experience in companies like J M Financial & Investment Consultancy Ltd, Standard Chartered Bank, Aditya Birla Group. He has wide experience in Corporate Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions and Capital Structuring and Corporate Advisory Services. In Times Private Treaties he takes care of the structuring of the transactions and documentations. RAJESH SHARMA (ASST. VICE PRESIDENT, Mumbai)  An economist by education from Delhi School of economics and trained in Capital Markets (JBIMS+BSE) and Communication (BVB), Rajesh has over the last 14 years worked across industries ranging from Media, IT, Internet, Information services, research, analytics and consulting to Private Equity, helping companies like CRISIL (S&P), KOTAK MAHINDRA, NIIT, BAG films set up new, innovative and high growth businesses. He was instrumental in building up India’s first revenue based internet enabled information & research services business “India Informer”, much before the dotcom boom and helping CRISIL venture into new business areas outside the ratings business. As a part of the research and advisory businesses he has helped blue chip companies like Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Maruti, IOC, Emaar MGF etc, across sectors shape up their growth and business expansion strategies using a unique combination of solution matrix involving Macro economics, Fundamental Business, Capital Markets, Technology and Media. SANDEEP KAPUR (GENERAL MANAGER, Mumbai)  Sandeep leads BCCL’s investments in various businesses across verticals that include Media & Entertainment, Luxury, Gems & Jewelry, Food & Beverage and Hotels. He has rich experience with various companies in their start up phase, across diverse industries. He was instrumental in launching the Locally Bottled Scotch business for Diageo/ UDV in India and went on to manage their entire Scotch portfolio in the country. As Head of Marketing for STAR TV’s foray into the FM radio industry, he was instrumental in developing the format and programming strategy as well as the launch of ‘RadioCity’. Sandeep then moved on as Head of Marketing to launch operations for Hutch Telecon in the Punjab circle. In his capacity as Head Business Development & Research, Sandeep was responsible for the launch of FM Radio Station ‘HIT 95’, for Millennium Broadcast, in Delhi. Sandeep holds a Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh in addition to a Masters Degree in Management Studies from S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai.. MALCOLM RAPHAEL (GENERAL MANAGER, Mumbai)  Malcolm Raphael heads branding initiatives at Times Private Treaties. In his 14 years of work experience, he has worked in multiple roles – advertising professional, branding consultant and client. He has had the fortune of working with multiple industries right from FMCG to Consumer Durables to Aviation. As a branding consultant, he has been involved in rebranding corporates like Dabur, Kansai Nerolac, Air India, Lotus Herbals, Pyramid Megastore, Sahakari Bhandar; creating brands like Lifecell, Trumart and rebranding multiple brands for Unilever, Colgate Palmolive, ITC Foods, Marico etc. Malcolm is a movie buff, loves music, plays a few musical instruments, enjoys writing & playing various sports. DIWAKAR DADOO (ASST. VICE PRESIDENT, Delhi)  Diwakar is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) from Ernst & Young (E&Y) and MBA (Marketing & Finance) from Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi. Diwakar started his career in Merchant Banking in 1994 and moved on to Consulting at KPMG from where he joined The Times Group in July 1999. Was one of the few people to have been a part of Times Private Treaties since its inception and spearheaded some of the significant Private Equity Investments on behalf of the Group. Diwakar & team are recipients of Times Private Treaties GOLDLINERS Award for the Best Marquee Deal. Prior to that, Diwakar was Business Head- Ad Sales at Times Response where he managed Appointments & Financial Categories and helped build the Brand - ASCENT. Later he was also Head Response Sales - Sub Offices and Business To Business Revenue Streams where he was responsible for Training & Development of large ad sales teams. Diwakar enjoys reading, traveling, watching theatre and spending time with the family. SUBRAMANIAN S (GENERAL MANAGER, Tamil Nadu and Kerala)  Subbu has a rich experience in Media Planning, Marketing & Sales. In his last assignment Subbu was heading the Mindshare operations for South as a General Manager. As head of South Operations Subbu handled more than 50 top clients across the cities of Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Cochin and Coimbatore with a total team size of 65 people. His assignment has given him an exposure to various industry segments including FMCG, Automotive, Retail, Apparel, Computers & IT Services and Financial Services. Subbu was recently awarded the “Manager of the year 2007 for MindShare Asia Pacific", thanks in no small way to the over 40% growth in revenues that he achieved for Mindshare South. In addition to his responsibility as Head Biz Development for TN & Kerala, Subbu will also assist the team in the area of Brand Communication and Delivery. ALOK UPADHYAYA (GENERAL MANAGER, Ahmedabad)  Alok has close to 17 years of experience in Business Development and Marketing of Petroleum products in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, one of the Fortune 500 companies of India. One thing which has remained constant for him in his professional journey is the change of assignments and the challenges associated with them (8 to be precise), which have helped him to get exposed to entire gamut of activities involved in marketing of petroleum products, enabling him to work with major industries across different sectors. Alok considers his role in Times Private Treaties an exciting adventure where no two days are same and challenges are in abundance. Alok loves to spend time with family and visit new places. Preferably travel by road and listen to Jagjit Singh AASHU MADHAN (GENERAL MANAGER, Mumbai)  Aashu holds a Masters degree in Management Studies (Finance), University of Mumbai (1992-94). She comes with a rich experience of 14 years. Currently at Times Private Treaties she handles Business Development and Deal Execution with specific focus on Pre-IPO deals. Aashu started her career with Mafatlal Finance Co. Ltd., specializing in Business Development for Asset Financing through Leasing and Hire Purchase. She also has experience in the area of Credit Control and Receivables Management. During her stint with SBI Capital Markets Ltd., she focused on Corporate Relations & Business Development for I-Banking products like Project Advisory & Structured Finance, Capital Markets, M&A and Fixed Income Securities. The focus was to nurture important corporate relationships for current and future business opportunities. She also had the opportunity to work as a visiting faculty with NMIMS, Mumbai. Her hobbies include Indian classical music, reading, writing and traveling. | | |
